I have very different views to you (broadly, anarcho-social rather than anarcho-individual) and I'm not going to argue (or I'd spend all day posting comments!), but note that the USA has 90 million men aged 19-64 and the same number of women of that age.

You make a very good point, Dada.

But, when staring down the barrel at another living, breathing human being, are you truly prepared to pull the trigger? In a nation of relative luxury, peacefulness and harmony that is currently breeding decades of citizens whose only claim to experiencing advanced "suicide combatants" and guerilla warfare is a graphic video game....... and more people carry firearms because they wish to emulate a rap star than those who take arms seriously.........and about 25 to 30 percent of the population is morbidly obese, not just fat....... do you still place stock in their ability to effectively defend themselves against people with generations of streamlined, terrorist-based fighting skills?

I propose a modification to your idea. Why not deploy several small bands of highly trained, well paid, privately subsidized defenders, for lack of a better term, to address the true cause of each crisis? I believe that the Bin Ladens of the world would be red puffs on the horizon in this scenario. And, because Blackwater is contracted by the government, they do not fit the need. I am suggesting a "Swordfish"-style defense system. Do you believe this is even possible?

The USA would be an easy easy easy target for standard warfare if we didn't have the army. We're so so so dependent on our infrastructure vs. someone in Vietnam who wasn't so dependent in the first place. An enemy could come in, sabotage various key infrastructure points like exploded dams (and the chain effect flooding), poisoned water supplies, exploded oil pipelines, destroyed water pipelines, cut telecom/power lines at various choke points. Simultaneously. Imagine if the USA had to deal with dozens of Katrina style mismanaged disasters simultaneously??! Afterwards the enemy would come in with my army, use various dirty measures to deal with the poorly armed citizenry (since the highest level of armed resistance would be well armed infantry) like biological, chemical & nuclear measures using missiles, fighter jets & bombers and other such things that a guy with a rifle, body armor and simple RPGs could not do anything about. After about 97% of the populace has been mass murdered, then the hard part comes of picking off the survivors. The USA has been destroyed and done.

But If I knew there was an army in that country, with their own fighter jets, nukes, well trained men who can deal with nuclear, biological & chemical agents and can quickly strike back, even on my own homeland with an even greater force, I would be mightily wary of attacking the USA. If the 9/11 attacks were actually a serious level of destruction, like a nuke going off new york, do you even think the middle east/iraq war wouldn't be a political excuse as it is now, or some real real evil result??
