How to Celebrate Freedom Everyday

Posted by adam.dada on July 5th, 2006

Congrats to Manuel Lora and his wife Melissa on their Three Year Anniversary of being united as one. He posted a great How to Celebrate July 4th post that needs to be read every day and done every day, at least one item in the list.

From his list:

Hire anyone you believe is qualified to do the job. Do not check for credentials, do not pay social security/medicare and for the sake of all that is good, do not withhold money from their paycheck. Better yet, pay cash.

I already pay the kid who maintains my yard in bullion. He does a great job.

Buy gold or silver. What better way to secure your dollars from the decaying hands of the Federal Reserve than by buying historically sound money?

I try to buy gold or silver at least once a week, if not more. The past 2 weeks I’ve bought zero as I’ve been traveling non-stop, but this week should be a good one!

Sell hot dogs and lemonade to your neighbors, or have a garage sale. Do not obtain a license and do not pay sales tax. Make it as simple as possible and enjoy totally free transactions between friends and family, as it should be. Teach the kids the value of work, money and freedom.

I refuse to get a license for what I do on my own property. The last time I had to get rid of items I sold them on eBay, but this fall we’re having a “House Party” that we’re going to advertise in the local paper classified and explain that everything is for sale. We’ll only allow party attenders to visit the one room where we’ll hold everything we’re selling (as well as free punch and chips for those attending the “party”). No license needed to hold a party.

Obtain fireworks and set them off. If you state government believes (oh, the horror) that you are better off not having them, find some anyway through an intermediary or just drive to the state border.

Did it last night. I bought 10 plastic machine guns at the dollar store (little tiny handsized ones) and gave them to neighbor kids while I set up a ton of blackcats to make the sound effects. The parents all laughed since it is probably illegal to let a kid pretend to play “defend your home” to the sound of massive amounts of gunpowder going off in the background.

(Try to) travel without an ID. This great victimless crime is a prime example of the State’s desire to control everything and everyone. Conform or be jailed.

I always travel without an ID. I go through the separate line for people like me, deal with a 5-10 minute “deep” search (no nudity) and prodding, and then I get to my gate about 30 minutes ahead of the rest of my party. When the ID is absolutely required, I’ll fly a private plane instead.

Deliver first class mail around your block. Make it a fun walk and bring your kids. Yes, this is a bit silly, but the Feds have monopolized the delivery of first class mail in the country.

I did this too, on the 4th. I put church invites into everyone’s mailbox on the 4th. The USPS has tried to stop me (years ago) but I told them that #1 they’re closed on the 4th (and Christmas) so I’m not competing, and #2, they don’t want to get involved in a Church versus State issue. They’ve ignored me the last few years. Unfortunately.

Drive without your license while talking on your cell phone without wearing your seatbelt or helmet.

I already drive without a license, but I do wear seatbelts. I don’t wear a helmet when I ride a motorcycle (without a license, too). When a cop pulls me over, I demand to be let go if I am not under arrest. I will never accept a ticket if I have committed a crime (I’ve only been arrested once for doing this, and was let go by the chief of police of that municipality).

Good article, keep it in mind every day.
